Gregg Oppel joined the Bellarmine University baseball staff as the director of program development prior to the 2026 season.
Oppel coached at IU Southeast for eight years, including six when Bellarmine head coach Ben Reel was at the helm of the Grenadiers. He was a head coach at his high school alma mater, North Harrison in Indiana, and coached numerous travel ball teams, including the first IronMen club.
In college, Oppel was a left-handed pitcher for the University of Southern Indiana after being an Indiana North-South Baseball All-Star at North Harrison. He earned a bachelor's degree in political science from USI.
Oppel was a Southern Indiana YMCA Volunteer of the Year recipient.
