Ross Goldschlag begins his second year as assistant coach/pitching with the Bellarmine Knights after being promoted to the role in June 2025 following a season as a student assistant.
In 2026, Goldschlag helped lead the Knights to a new Division I-era program wins record (19). The pitching staff recorded improvement in each key statistical category, and he coached Bellarmine’s first draft pick of the Division I era in right-hander Cade Rusch, selected by the Detroit Tigers in the 19th round of the 2026 MLB Draft.
In Goldschlag’s year as a student assistant (2025), Bellarmine set Division I-era program records for total wins (17, four more than the previous high) and ASUN wins (11). The Knights also recorded their first-ever D1-era victory over both a nationally ranked opponent and a College World Series qualifier with a 10-9 win over No. 21 Louisville on May 13.
In 2024, Goldschlag was a graduate transfer at Bellarmine after spending his first four seasons at Sonoma State. The Encinitas, California native led the Knights in saves (4) and opposing batting average (.209). He ranked second in relief appearances (20), tied for second in strikeouts (31), was third in innings pitched (39.1), and fourth in total appearances (20). He was named to the ASUN Honor Roll and the College Sports Communicators Academic All-District Team.
As a junior at Sonoma State, Goldschlag posted a 4-2 record, tied for the team lead in pitching appearances (13), and ranked second in batting average against (.248) and WHIP (1.28). The right-hander worked 2.0 innings or more in 10 appearances and logged 33.2 innings for the season.
Goldschlag played high school baseball at La Costa Canyon (California), where he earned the win in coach Justin Machado’s 500th career victory.
