Before joining Bellarmine, Will Kempf served as an assistant coach with the Martinsville Mustangs of the Coastal Plain League during the summer of 2026. He was the Mustangs’ primary hitting coach, third-base coach and catching coach while also assisting with player recruitment.
Martinsville ranked second in the CPL in stolen bases per game (3.3) and strikeout rate (18 percent) and fourth in on-base percentage (.404) and walk rate (16 percent). Two Mustangs ranked among the league’s top 10 in batting average, on-base percentage and slugging percentage, while three were selected to the CPL All-Star Team.
From 2024-26, Kempf was a graduate assistant with the University of Louisville baseball program, where he assisted with hitting and catching instruction, baseball operations, technology and analytics, camps and student-athlete mentorship.
Louisville advanced to the semifinals of the 2025 Men’s College World Series, and the Cardinals’ catching staff recorded caught-stealing rates above 50 percent in both 2025 and 2026. Catcher Matt Klein was selected in the sixth round of the 2025 MLB Draft, while Tague Davis led the nation in home runs and RBI in 2026. Three Louisville hitters were selected in the 2026 MLB Draft, including No. 6 overall pick Zion Rose.
In the summer of 2025, Kempf served as an assistant coach and clinic director with the Orleans Firebirds of the Cape Cod Baseball League. He worked primarily with the Firebirds’ catchers and hitters and assisted with scouting reports and field maintenance. Orleans captured the CCBL regular-season championship, while catcher Cashel Dugger was named a league All-Star and the team’s MVP. Two Firebirds catchers were selected in the 2026 MLB Draft.
Kempf’s additional experience includes working as a scout and assistant tournament director with Baseball Factory in 2024 and serving as USA Baseball’s 12U National Team director of operations in 2023. He assisted with player evaluation, national-team selection and team logistics while also supporting projects involving USA Baseball’s 15U, 18U and Collegiate National Teams. The 12U National Team captured the WBSC U-12 Baseball World Cup championship during his tenure.
Kempf previously served as the assistant director of operations and data analytics for Prep Baseball Report Kentucky from January 2021-August 2022.
He earned a master’s degree in sport administration with honors from the University of Louisville in 2026. Kempf graduated summa cum laude from Centre College in 2024 with bachelor’s degrees in psychology and Spanish.
As a member of the Centre baseball program, Kempf served as a team captain and bullpen coach and helped lead the Colonels to their first conference championship and NCAA Tournament appearance.
