Adam Pruiett joined the Bellarmine University athletic department in the spring of 2014 as the assistant sports information director, bringing with him a lengthy communications background that includes experience in print media, electronic media, media relations and sports information.
Pruiett is the primary contact for both soccer, tennis, cross country, swimming and track and field teams along with being the main contact for women's basketball, baseball and wrestling. He assists with all additional Knights teams.
In December of 2014, Pruiett served as the media liaison for the NCAA at the NCAA Division II Soccer Championships, which crowned national champions in both men's and women's soccer. He assisted with the organization and management of those Soccer Championships, which were a part of the Division II National Championships Festival.
Prior to returning to college at the University of Louisville to pursue a career change into sports information, Pruiett worked as an award-winning sports writer and sports editor in newspapers in Indiana, Kentucky and Florida. He began his career in journalism as an intern in the newsroom of the Evansville Courier & Press in southern Indiana. He then worked in sports departments at The Messenger in Madisonville, Kentucky, The News-Enterprise in Elizabethtown, Kentucky, and the Northwest Florida Daily News in Fort Walton Beach, Florida. Pruiett received promotions to sports editor at both The Messenger and the NWF Daily News.
After nearly a decade’s worth of newspaper reporting, Pruiett enrolled at U of L and earned the Most Outstanding Student-Undergraduate award from the sport administration department for the December 2012 graduating class. While at U of L, Pruiett worked as a volunteer assistant in the sports information department and was heavily involved in coverage of Cardinals baseball teams that won consecutive conference titles and advanced to the College World Series in 2013. He also interned in the media relations department with the Louisville Bats – the Triple-A affiliate of the Cincinnati Reds – during the 2012 season.
Pruiett is a native of Evansville, Indiana. He has a wife, Ria, and two children, Adeline and Hayden.
