Jo Griffin joined the Bellarmine University Athletics staff in August of 2022 when he was named as the Head Sports Performance Coach.
In that role, he oversees the sports performance department while working directly with the following teams: Men’s Basketball, Men’s Soccer, Sprint Football, Wrestling, Field Hockey, and Men’s Tennis.
He is a graduate of Kentucky Wesleyan College with a bachelor’s degree in exercise science, and he holds a master’s in leadership innovation from the University of Evansville. Griffin also has earned several certifications. He is a certified strength and conditioning specialist through the National Strength & Conditioning Association, a certified pain-free performance specialist through the National Academy of Sports Medicine, and is a certified USA Weightlifting level 1 coach.
Prior to joining Bellarmine, Griffin spent the summer of 2021 as a graduate assistant strength coach for Indiana University Men’s Basketball, and during the 2021-2022 academic year, he served as a graduate assistant for the University of Evansville men’s basketball team and sports performance staff.
As an undergraduate, Griffin played basketball for KWC from 2019-2021 and was named a team captain in both years. He began his collegiate basketball career as a walk-on for the University of Louisville men’s basketball team, playing under head coaches Rick Pitino, David Padgett, and Chris Mack from 2017-2019.
Originally from Crestwood, Kentucky, Griffin also is a graduate of South Oldham High School.
