Sara Johnston

Sara Johnston joined the Bellarmine University athletics department as a sports performance coach intern in the spring of 2022 and was brought on as an assistant strength and conditioning coach in fall of 2022.
 
Johnston primarily oversees training for women’s soccer, women's basketball, volleyball, men's and women's golf, and men’s and women’s swim. 
 
Prior to Bellarmine, Johnston spent the last five years as a personal trainer working 1-on-1 with clients at Fitness 19. Before her time at Fitness 19, Johnston worked as a physical technician for two years, assisting and learning in the rehabilitation process of a variety of injuries.
 
Johnston earned her bachelor’s degree in exercise science from Florida State University, where she was a part of the student athletic training program working alongside the ATC for track and field and women’s tennis.
 
Johnston is a NSCA Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist as well as a certified personal trainer through the NASM.
 
Originally from Louisville, Johnston grew up in Niceville, FL. She relocated to Louisville in 2015 following her college graduation. She and her husband, Joshua, have two sons, Ry Alan and Treyden.Â
