LEBANON, Ill.—Bellarmine University was the underdog in today's Great Lakes Valley Conference volleyball match at McKendree University, so the Knights turned a lot of heads in taking the opening set 25-19. However, that would be the end of the surprises for the visitors as McKendree rebounded for the four set victory 19-25, 25-22, 25-16, 25-12.
After the first set loss, the Bearcats (10-5, 5-1 GLVC) seemed to get stronger every set to cruise to the victory and maintain their position in second place of the GLVC's East Division.
Allison Schneider led the Bearcat attack with 17 kills while Bellarmine's
Megan Kimbley registered 10 to lead the Knights.
Defensively, Bellarmine libero
Jordyn Kuchenbrod recorded a game-high 24 digs, but the Bearcats won the team digs battle (68-64) with four different McKendree players coming up with 13 or more digs.
Bellarmine setter
Allie Muha turned in her second double-double in a row with 27 assists and 14 digs.
The Knights drops to 6-10 overall with a 1-5 mark in GLVC play. Bellarmine has a short turnaround as they entertain Southern Indiana at 7 p.m. on Tuesday night.
