LOUISVILLE, Ky.—The visiting Wisconsin-Parkside Rangers rolled to a straight sets (25-20, 29-27, 25-17) victory over Bellarmine University today in a Great Lakes Valley Conference match at Knights Hall.
The host Knights never got in rhythm as they committed 25 errors while recording just 39 kills. Conversely, the Rangers made just 11 errors and totaled 46 kills while hitting .304 for the match.
Rebecca Roembke led the way for the Rangers ringing up 14 kills against just two attack errors as she hit .400 in the match. Wisconsin-Parkside had three players in double digit kills with Lexi Turek and Leah Fenske recording 10 each.
Bellarmine was led by
Margaret Horihan,
Ashley Jefferson and
Aurryella Mason with six kills each.
Defensively both teams' liberos—Annie Leo from UWP and
Jordyn Kuchenbrod for BU—recorded 16 digs in the match. However, the Rangers held a 61-53 advantage in total digs. The visitors also held a distinct advantage defensively at the net, outblocking the Knights 10-4.
Bellarmine falls to 12-6 overall and 3-6 in league play while the Rangers improve to 7-12, 5-4 GLVC.
The Knights return to action on Friday in the Mizuno Midwest Crossover Tournament in Aurora, Illinois. Pairings for the tournament have not yet been announced.
