INDIANAPOLIS — The No. 11 Bellarmine University women's basketball team was defeated 80-65 Thursday by Indianapolis at Nicoson Hall in Great Lakes Valley Conference play.

Sarah Galvin hit 8-of-12 shots in scoring 21 points with seven rebounds for Bellarmine (16-3, 8-2 GLVC), which trailed Indianapolis (14-6, 8-2) 45-28 at halftime and couldn't catch up in the second half. Senior guard

Mikayla Berry had 10 off the bench. Galvin, Curry and Berry accounted for all but 16 of the team's points.
Nicole Anderson was 11 for 11 from the field in scoring 25 points for Indianapolis, which has won four straight. Martha Burse also scored 25 points for the Greyhounds, who shot 66 percent from the field. They connected on 63.6 percent (7 of 11) of their 3-point attempts. Bellarmine, meanwhile, shot 35.8 percent from the field and 23.8 percent (5 of 21) from 3-point range.
Indianapolis built a 17-point lead at the intermission after shooting 64.3 percent in the first half. The Greyhounds were even better from 3-point range, sinking 6 of 9 (66.7 percent) from deep over the first two quarters. Indianapolis set the tone in the first quarter by canning four of its five 3-point attempts.
Bellarmine had a brief rally in the third quarter where the Knights had a chance to cut their deficit to eight, but they missed two free throws and allowed a layup on the other end. Bellarmine was within 10 on two Galvin free throws with less than two minutes left in the third quarter but again immediately followed by giving up a lay-in on defense. The Knights got no closer than 10 in the fourth quarter.
Bellarmine plays at 2 p.m. (ET) Saturday at Saint Joseph's.
