Knights baseball falls to Missouri-St. Louis

ST. LOUIS — The visiting Bellarmine University baseball team fell 14-6 to Missouri-St. Louis on Sunday.

Both teams collected a lopsided victory in the two-game series, with Bellarmine (12-8) winning Saturday's opener 9-3. In the finale, Missouri-St. Louis (6-8) scored two runs apiece over the first three innings and added four more in the fifth to build an 11-1 lead.

Bellarmine collected 14 hits and every Knights starter picked up at least one, led by senior catcher Christopher Allen's 4-for-4 outing. Junior second baseman Alex Ralph had two hits and four RBIs, and sophomore third baseman Josh Finerty chipped in two hits.

Ralph delivered an RBI single in the third, but Bellarmine wouldn't score again until posting three runs in the seventh. Ralph had a sacrifice fly in the frame and sophomore designated hitter Zac Wiley and Allen both smacked RBI doubles. Ralph then punched a two-run single in the eighth.

Junior left-hander Hunter Spencer (2-4) took the loss for Bellarmine. Kevin Smith (2-1) earned the win for the Tritons after allowing one earned run with eight strikeouts in 6.0 innings.

Bellarmine hosts Southern Indiana in Great Lakes Valley Conference doubleheaders on Saturday and Sunday. First pitch both days is at noon (ET).
