LOUISVILLE, Ky. — The Bellarmine University women's soccer team concluded the regular season Sunday with a 1-0 loss to Rockhurst in Great Lakes Valley Conference play at Owsley B. Frazier Stadium.

Bellarmine (11-4-3, 8-4-3 GLVC) finished the regular season in a tie for fifth in the GLVC with Maryville, but the Knights own the tiebreaker for the five-seed in the conference tournament after defeating the Saints 1-0 on Oct. 25. Bellarmine will travel to meet four-seed Truman State for a quarterfinal match next Sunday.

Rockhurst (13-4, 11-4) secured the three-seed and a quarterfinal hosting gig in the GLVC Tournament with the win over Bellarmine. McKenna Leetch scored the game-winner in the second half.

It was Senior Day for Bellarmine. The Knights honored Kenzi Gooley, Erika Joldrichsen, Annabel Moore, Kira Steinke, Olivia Taylor and Rosie Taylor.

"First, thank you to our seniors," Knights Coach Chris Tinius said. "They've been great ambassadors for our program. We didn't get a result for them, but I thought we played another good game."

After a scoreless first half, Rockhurst's Jillian Leetch ripped a shot that sophomore goalkeeper Elyssa Francis managed to leap and deflect off the crossbar. McKenna Leetch was there for the carom, ramming in a rebound goal for a 1-0 lead in the 59th minute. The Hawks made that score stand up.

"We had a flurry of chances to start the second half and missed the opportunity to follow a couple of things," Tinius said. "Their goal was a great strike and Elyssa did well to get a hand on it. Unfortunately, they were quicker in following their chance. I thought it was a hard-fought game between two good teams." 

The shots were even at 15 apiece. Bellarmine was shut out for the third consecutive match. Francis collected five saves.
