No. 1 Drury overwhelms Knights in GLVC Championship game

EDWARDSVILLE, Ill.—The No. 1 Drury Panthers were simply too much for the Bellarmine Knights in Sunday's Great Lakes Valley Conference Championship winning 94-48 in the Vadalabene Center at Southern Illinois University-Edwardsville.

The Knights kept it close over the first five minutes, but the undefeated Panthers surged to close the first quarter and held a 20-9 advantage after the first 10 minutes.

Unfortunately for Bellarmine, the lead simply continue to grow as Drury shot the ball well and played excellent defense. The Knights managed just 25.5 percent shooting and turned the ball over 30 times. Meanwhile, DU nailed 50.8 percent of its shots and limited their turnovers to just 16.

Mikayla Berry led the Knights with 17 points and was the lone Bellarmine player to register double digits.  Breia Torrens had another highlight reel shot by banking in a near half-court shot to close out the second half.  Torrens was named to the All-Tournament Team.

Drury's Hailey Diestelkamp, who was named the GLVC tourney's Most Outstanding Player, poured in 28 to lead three Panthers in double digits.

The Panthers improve to 31-0 on the season while the Knights close the 2018-19 season with a 17-12 mark.
