HANOVER, Ind. — The Bellarmine University women's tennis team returned to its winning ways Saturday with a 7-0 road victory over Hanover.
Bellarmine (9-4) won two of the three doubles matches to secure the doubles point and swept the six singles contests against Hanover (12-4).
Junior
Jennifer Skonieczny and sophomore
Ava Ratcliff, at No. 2, and sophomore
Aubrey Smith and freshman
Madison Devillez, at No. 3, posted matching 6-2 scores as the Knights captured the doubles point.
Bellarmine commanded singles play, winning all six matches in straight sets. The Knights dropped two games or less in the vast majority of sets. From Nos. 1-6, the victories were achieved by Skonieczny, junior
Ashley Jonathan, senior
Maggie Walroth, Ratcliff, Smith and Devillez.
"Hanover was the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference champ in the fall, and Coach Larue had his team ready to play," Knights Coach
John Mican said. "After winning the doubles point, we were much more relaxed going into singles. We've only got GLVC teams remaining on our schedule. It was nice to get the 'W' today, but we've got a lot of work ahead of us."
Bellarmine will play at 2 p.m. (ET) Wednesday at Missouri-St. Louis.
