INDIANAPOLIS — Third-ranked Indianapolis bested the visiting Bellarmine University women's tennis team 7-0 on Saturday in Great Lakes Valley Conference action.
Facing some of Division II's premier players, Bellarmine (10-6, 1-1 GLVC) battled very competitively at Nos. 1 and 2 doubles as the tandems of senior
Maggie Walroth/junior
Ashley Jonathan and junior
Jennifer Skonieczny/sophomore
Ava Ratcliff both fell 4-6. Walroth/Jonathan faced the nation's fourth-ranked doubles team in Nikol Alexeeva/Anva Novikova.
Indianapolis (15-0, 2-0) controlled singles play.
"We hung tough in doubles, but once Indy got the lead they were just too tough so hat's off to Coach Malik (Tabet) and the squad of talented players he has assembled," Knights Coach
John Mican said.
Bellarmine plays Friday at Lewis.
