ROMEOVILLE, Ill. — Lewis notched a 5-2 win over the visiting Bellarmine University women's tennis team Friday in Great Lakes Valley Conference play.

Sophomore Aubrey Smith and freshman Madison Devillez accounted for all of the wins for Bellarmine (10-7, 1-2 GLVC) against the Flyers (4-6, 2-0) but nearly every match was tightly contested.

The pair claimed a 6-1 victory over Sarah Markun and Sophie Davis at No. 3 doubles, but Lewis secured the point after winning at Nos. 1 and 2.

Smith then defeated Davis and Devillez beat Markun by identical scores of 6-3, 6-2 at Nos. 5 and 6 singles.

"It was another match where we played good tennis and fought hard, but Lewis played the big points better," Knights Coach John Mican said. "We can still regroup and finish out the season strong with our last two home conference matches."

Bellarmine hosts McKendree next Friday.
