LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Illinois Springfield edged the Bellarmine University women's tennis team 4-3 on Saturday in Great Lakes Valley Conference play at the Eddie Weber Tennis Complex.
In the regular-season finale, Bellarmine (11-8, 2-3 GLVC) swept the doubles matches, but UIS (13-4, 3-2) won four of the six singles contests to clip the Knights.

Jennifer Skonieczny and sophomore
Ava Ratcliff, and sophomore
Aubrey Smith and freshman
Madison Devillez all claimed victories to secure the doubles point.
Devillez rallied at No. 6 singles after dropping the first set to win a tight contest. Smith was also victorious at No. 5 singles. The Prairie Stars captured the Nos. 1-4 matches, with two going to three sets and one of those needing a tiebreaker.
"It was a great college tennis match with every player giving it their all," Knights Coach
John Mican said.
Bellarmine honored Walroth prior to the contest. The captain is the program's all-time leader in wins and a three-time All-GLVC honoree. The Knights have amassed 61 team wins over her four years, the most successful four-year span in program history.
Bellarmine had already earned a berth in the GLVC Tournament. The league will announce the official seedings and other tournament details soon.
