CLARION, Pa.—After opening with two victories on day one of the Tony Banner Memorial Tournament, the Bellarmine Knights volleyball team had to settle for a .500 record after dropping matches to host Clarion and Saginaw Valley in today's action.
The Knights opened on a strong note, racing to a 25-16 set one victory against Clarion. However, the host Golden Eagles regrouped and won the next three games 25-22, 25-22, 25-18.
Bellarmine was paced by sophomore
Bailey Roszman with 14 kills while hitting .282 for the match. Junior
Abbie Oetting added 10 kills for the Knights, who hit just .117 as a team.

Kristen O'Toole registered her first double-double of the year with 33 assists and 16 digs while junior libero
Karleigh Wilson tied her career high with 20 digs.
In the final match of the tournament, Bellarmine faced the Cardinals of Saginaw Valley, who came in a perfect 3-0 on the season. The Knights couldn't slow their momentum as SVSU won in straight sets 25-23, 25-21, 25-17.
Freshman
Jayme Scott was the only Knight to reach double digits in kills with 10 as Bellarmine saw its hitting percentage dip to just .083 against the Cardinals. O'Toole and Wilson were the assist and dig leaders once again with 26 and 19 respectively.
Bellarmine makes its home debut on Friday as the Knights host the five-team Bellarmine Invitational. The Knights will open the tourney at 2 p.m. against Virginia State and close the opening day matches with a 7 p.m. tilt against Christian Brothers. On Saturday, BU will stay in the 2 and 7 p.m. time slots, facing Minnesota State and Tiffin.
