Women's basketball falls at William Jewell

LIBERTY, Mo. — The Bellarmine University women's basketball team suffered a 63-47 upset loss at the hands of William Jewell on Thursday at the Mabee Center in Great Lakes Valley Conference play.

After several strong offensive performances of late, Bellarmine (11-9, 6-7 GLVC) was limited to 31.3 percent shooting by William Jewell (9-12, 5-8) and tied the second-lowest point total in Coach Chancellor Dugan's eight-year tenure.

Bellarmine did not have a player score in double figures, as sophomore guard Bailee Harney led them with eight points. Ainsley Tolson scored a game-high 19 points for William Jewell, Claire Burch added 11 and Kiara Bradley nearly collected a double-double with nine points and 10 rebounds.

Bellarmine led 17-10 after the first quarter, but William Jewell tied it up at 23 at halftime and took a 38-35 advantage into the fourth. Once there, the Cardinals outscored the Knights 25-12 as they hit 6 of 11 from the field and 12 of 16 from the free-throw line in the period.

Bellarmine will play at 2 p.m. (ET) Saturday at Rockhurst.
