LOUISVILLE, Ky. — In Bellarmine wrestling's return home after a month on the road, the Knights fell to Ohio out of the Mid-American Conference by a final score of 50-0.
Bellarmine was short-handed with injuries to
Jack Parker,
Logan Hoskins, and
Cole Nance resulting in two forfeits in the 125 and 141 weight classes. The Bobcats used that immediate 12-point advantage to spark their victory and move to 2-1 on the season.
Bellarmine's performance was highlighted by strong battles from
Devan Hendricks,
Eric Beck, and
Sam Schroeder. All three hung tight into the third period of their respective matches. Schroeder is coming off a third place finish at the Cougar Clash Invitational last weekend, while Beck (four wins) and Hendricks (three wins) are two of the other top wrestlers for BU so far this season.
Next up for Bellarmine is another home dual at Knights Hall against Appalachian State on Sunday, Dec. 19. It marks the first SoCon dual for the Knights this season. The Mountaineers were picked to finish first in the conference after finishing second last year (7-1).
