KENNESAW, Ga. — Kennesaw State completed the series sweep of the Bellarmine University baseball team Sunday, capturing a 17-8 victory over the Knights in ASUN action at Stillwell Baseball Stadium.
Bellarmine (3-10, 0-3 ASUN) started off well against Kennesaw State (10-5, 3-0). Junior outfielder
Matt Higgins launched his fourth homer of the season in the first, a two-run shot that staked the Knights to an early lead. Higgins added a two-run single in Bellarmine's three-run fourth.
Senior left fielder
Chris Gambert cranked his third homer of the year in the eighth, also a two-run blast. Gambert had a sacrifice fly in the fourth that provided Bellarmine a 5-4 lead.
However, KSU responded with five runs in the bottom half of the fourth to take the lead for good. The Owls added five more in the sixth to pull away.
Higgins, Gambert and sophomore second baseman
Dylan Byerly had two hits apiece for Bellarmine, which plays Tuesday at Western Kentucky.
