CARBONDALE, Ill. — The Bellarmine University baseball team was defeated 14-6 by Southern Illinois on Saturday at Itchy Jones Stadium.
Bellarmine (10-18) fell behind 10-0 after three innings to Southern Illinois (23-6), but the Knights did cut their deficit to 10-6 in the seventh before the Salukis regrouped with a three-run eighth to pull away for good.
Sophomore center fielder
Robert Sproul went 2-for-3 with two RBIs. He had RBI singles in both the fifth and the sixth. Five other Knights had one hit apiece.
Bellarmine plays at 6:30 p.m. (ET) Tuesday at Kentucky.
