LEXINGTON, Ky. — Kentucky scored six runs in the first inning en route to a 12-0 win over the Bellarmine University baseball team Tuesday at Kentucky Proud Park.
Senior right-hander
Anthony Ethington tossed 3.0 shutout innings in relief for Bellarmine (10-19), stopping the bleeding after Kentucky (21-9) built a 7-0 lead after two frames. The big blow in the first came from Jacob Plastiak, who launched a three-run homer for the Wildcats.
Starter Zach Kammin (1-0) established the tone on the mound for Kentucky with seven strikeouts in 3.0 shutout innings. He combined with four other pitchers for the shutout, while the Wildcats' offense produced 12 hits.
Senior second baseman
Justin Rouse collected two of Bellarmine's three hits. Freshman designated hitter
Tommy Dilz was responsible for the other one.
Bellarmine hosts Kennesaw State in a three-game ASUN series starting at 2 p.m. (ET) Friday.
