MURRAY, Ky. — Murray State scored a combined 10 runs in the sixth and seventh innings in rallying to defeat the visiting Bellarmine University baseball team 12-8 Tuesday in a nonconference game.
For the second time in four games, Bellarmine (9-17) failed to protect a 7-0 lead. The Knights scored four runs in the second inning and three in the fourth against Murray State (15-12), but the Racers roared back behind a six-run sixth and overtook BU with a four-run seventh.

Josh Finerty had a two-run single and junior first baseman
Jacob Mulcahy added an RBI double as Bellarmine took a 4-0 lead in the second. In the fourth, sophomore center fielder
Robert Sproul collected an RBI single, Finerty had an RBI triple and Mulcahy lifted a sacrifice fly as the Knights boosted the advantage to 7-0.
Bellarmine led 8-1 in the top of the sixth after an RBI single by sophomore second baseman
Dylan Byerly, but Murray State scored 10 runs over its next frames behind a trio of two-run homers, and the Knights went scoreless over the final three innings.
Finerty, Mulcahy and Byerly had two hits apiece for Bellarmine. Sophomore right-hander
Matt Craven threw 2.0 scoreless innings, while freshman left-hander
Steven Thom and freshman right-hander
Adam Spalding tossed 1.0 shutout inning each.
Bellarmine plays two games Friday at Southern Illinois, the first against Northern Illinois at 3 p.m. (ET) and the second right after against the host school.
