LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Bellarmine women's tennis played its final match of January at home against Murray State but came up short by a final score of 7-0.
A talented Racers squad was able to cruise to victory, starting with a doubles sweep. In singles, freshman
Ekaterina Tikhonko was tied in sets 1-1 with Annika Pschorr, but Tikhonko was forced to retire, giving Pschorr the victory. BU was not able to claim any of the other singles matches and dropped its first ever match against Murray State.
"Hats off to Murray State today - they came out and took it to us early," Knighs Head Coach
Brian Slack said. "We started off slow today in doubles. We have to be better from the very first point. We bounced back in singles and brought some energy. We will get back to work this week and prepare for a doubleheader this Friday against Northern Illinois and Western Illinois."
The Knights are on the road for the next four matches, starting with the two on Friday Feb. 4 in Dekalb, Ill.
