LOUISVILLE, Ky. —
Ashley Jonathan nabbed a singles victory for the Knights, but Eastern Michigan controlled the other matchups to take a 4-1 match win at the Eddie Weber Tennis Complex on Friday night.
Jonathan defeated Isabelle Popma 7-5, 6-4 in the no. 3 singles slot for her first singles win of the year and was part of Bellarmine's closest doubles effort. Jonathan and
Madison Devillez were down 4-2 in no. 1 doubles but did not finish the set before the other doubles matchups finished.
"Eastern Michigan came out and played the best doubles we've faced all year," Knights Head Coach
Brian Slack said. "In singles, we came out and competed. I'm happy for
Ashley Jonathan getting a win in singles! We have another chance to compete tomorrow."
Bellarmine plays its first non-DI team this season with a trip to Southern Indiana tomorrow. The action begins at 4:30 p.m. ET in Evansville.
