Women's soccer edged 1-0 by RedHawks

LOUISVILLE, Ky. — In its final nonconference home game, the Bellarmine University women's soccer dropped a 1-0 decision to Miami (Ohio) on Thursday night at Owsley B. Frazier Stadium.

After Bellarmine (0-3-3) and Miami (3-2-1) were scoreless at halftime, the RedHawks took a 1-0 lead in the 58th minute when Madeline Schlecht drilled a shot off a free kick from Caroline Palmer.

Schlecht's third goal of the season proved to be the game-winner. Miami's defense was largely impenetrable in the match, allowing only three total shots including a nonthreatening attempt on goal.

Bellarmine didn't yield much on defense either. The RedHawks had 10 shots, with three coming on goal, and were wide on a penalty kick in the second half.

Bellarmine's final nonconference match will unfold on the road at 2 p.m. (ET) Sunday at Chicago State.
