LOUISVILLE, Ky. — The Bellarmine men's tennis had a very successful day at home, sweeping West Liberty and Southern Indiana for its first two victories of the season.

The Knights started strong versus West Liberty in doubles, picking up all three wins.  They carried that momentum into singles, as BU did not lose a set all match. 

Jack Batchelor claimed a 6-2, 7-5 win over Moritz Erpel at the no. 1 spot, while Matthew Nice bested Nevio Dux 6-2, 6-2 at no. 2 singles.  Vineet Ramesh handled Gianluca Gerndt 6-2, 6-1 at no. 3 singles, while Eli Wood topped Derek Roehner 6-0, 6-1 in the no. 4 slot.  Xavier Ecarma defeated Joao Benvenutti 6-1, 6-0 at no. 5 singles, and Brent Reynolds toppled Roberto Esquivel 6-2, 6-2 in no. 6 singles.

Bellarmine continued its dominance in its second match of the day against Southern Indiana.

With different combinations at doubles, Bellarmine still won the doubles point with wins at the no. 2 and no. 3 spots. 

Tang played no. 1 singles for Bellarmine in the afternoon match and earned a hard-fought 3-6, 6-2, 6-4 win over Alfrendo Vogeaar.  Batchelor won his second singles match of the day 6-3, 7-5 over Lucas Sakamaki, while P. Reynolds defeated Omar ElSamahy 7-5, 6-4.  Wood bested Ruben Emmerson-Hiini 6-0, 6-1 at no. 4 singles, while Ecarma cruised past Yahor Bahdanovich 6-4, 6-1.  Finally, at the no. 6 position, B. Reynolds beat Dylan Brown 6-2, 6-4.

Bellarmine is back on the road tomorrow at Illinois with a 6:00 p.m. (5:00 p.m. CT) match against the Illini in Champaign.
