LOUISVILLE, Ky.—The Bellarmine volleyball team fell in straight sets to the visiting Stetson Hatters on Saturday afternoon in Atlantic Sun Conference action.
The visitors had everything working for them in the first set as Stetson rolled to a 25-14 victory. Then, the Hatters showed their comeback ability in the second frame, erasing a seven-point deficit to claim a 25-23 win. The final set was competitive, but the Hatters ended the match with a 5-1 run to win 25-20.
Stetson ended the match with a .340 hitting percentage, topping the .400 plateau in the first set. After a slow start, Bellarmine rebounded to an attack percentage of .155.
MaryAnn O'Toole and
Maddie Hagan led Bellarmine with nine kills each, and
Gabby Brissett added six with a .333 hitting percentage.
For Stetson, Annabelle Standish had a big game, using all areas of the court in recording 19 kills and hitting .410.
The Knights and Hatters are now tied in the ASUN standings at 6-4.
Bellarmine stays at home for its next two matches, hosting Lipscomb and Austin Peay on Friday and Saturday..
