ST. CHARLES, Mo. — The Bellarmine University wrestling team placed in a slew of weight classes Saturday at the Lindenwood Open.
In the Gold Division open classes, freshman
Grant O'Dell secured a runner-up at 165 and junior
Cole Nance was fifth. O'Dell advanced to the finals behind a tech fall, major decision and 4-2 decision over Indiana's Nick South.
Sophomore
Thadd Huff placed fourth in the Gold 285 open while freshman
Damion Ryan advanced to the consolation finals in the Gold 125 open.
In the Black Division freshman/sophomore, freshman
Tyler Evans hammered out three falls and a decision in becoming the runner-up in the 125B group. Freshman
Justin Hoffer bracketed a pair of decisions around a major decision in advancing to the finals and placing second at 197.
Freshman
AJ Rallo secured third place at 141A after a fall over Cumberland's Sammy Shires, freshman
Jewell Williams' 18-9 major decision over McKendree's Ryan Schepers sent him to third at 149B and freshman
Jeb Prechtel's fall over Maryville's Evan Morris lifted him to third at 157B.
Freshmen
Trayce Eckman and
Josh Sanders both won their first three matches before ostensibly tying for third/fourth at 133A. Freshman
Evan Grazzini (184) and sophomore
Bryant Wilkinson (285A) both captured fourth places.
Freshman
Carson Nishida (133A), freshman
Chris Moder (174A) and sophomore
William Muckler (285B) all advanced to the consolation finals.
Bellarmine will return to Lindenwood to face the Lions in a dual on Nov. 30.
