ST. CHARLES, Mo. — The Bellarmine University wrestling team has had one home dual and one road dual. The Knights balanced them with dominant victories.

The latest came Thursday night at Lindenwood, as the Knights posted a 35-7 win over the Lions in Robert F. Hyland Arena.

"Proud of the guys output today! I wanted to see our guys create more separation from their opponents last year with how hard they wrestled," Knights Coach Ned Shuck said. "We delivered on almost all of our weights."

Bellarmine (2-0), which romped 49-0 over Kentucky Wesleyan in Knights Hall in its debut dual, won eight of the 10 matches against Lindenwood (2-3), including five by either fall or tech fall.

"Scoring points, scoring some more, and then following up with more scores is the way we want to wrestle," Shuck said. "Proud of the multiple bonus-point wins we had tonight."

Sophomore Zac Cowan (149) notched the lone fall. Sophomore Michael Schiffhauer (141), freshman Gray Ortis (157), freshman Grant O'Dell (165) and junior Cole Nance (174) all posted tech falls.

Freshman Damion Ryan (125), sophomore Sam Schroeder (184) and sophomore Thadd Huff (285) all notched wins by decisions, each by four points or more.

Bellarmine will travel to Queens for a dual at 2 p.m. (ET) Sunday.

"Excited for the next dual with a fairly quick turnaround and longer travel," Shuck said. "I'm expecting to see these guys really handle it well with a lot of discipline in taking care of their bodies between now and then."
