Women's tennis falls to Liberty in ASUN Tournament

CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. — The Bellarmine women's tennis team's season came to a close on Saturday after a 4-0 loss to Liberty in the first round of the ASUN Tournament at Austin Peay.

Bellarmine wrapped the 2022-23 campaign with four victories and its first conference win since joining the ASUN.

"It was a tough day today, but I couldn't be more proud of this group to finish the season," Knights Head Coach Brian Slack said.  "They competed and gave me their all until the very end! Hats off to Kat today for batting hard in singles! I can't thank these women enough for what they brought each day to practice and matches this year!"

In doubles action, the no. 1 team of Ekaterina Tikhonko and Vendula Kryslova led 4-3 before their match was abandoned with Liberty locking up the doubles point.

Tikhonko was tied with Maria Juliana Parra Romero 6-6 and led 4-2 in the tiebreak when the match was abandoned.  Liberty claimed wins at no. 2, no. 3, and no. 6 singles to wrap up the win.
