JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Despite a 3-3 performance from
Olivia Bricker at the plate, Bellarmine softball dropped its series finale at North Florida by a final score of 3-0.
Bricker had all three hits for the Knights on Sunday afternoon, while UNF totaled nine hits.
Shannon Glover got the Ospreys on the board with a solo home run in the first inning. Kelsey Vogel added another run with a RBI single in the second inning, while Abi Annett tallied a sacrifice fly to left field, giving UNF its third and final run.
Bellarmine had strong chances to score in the third and sixth.
Caitlyn Watson reached on an error and Bricker followed with her second single of the day in the third. After a sacrifice bunt from
Anna Greenwell, BU had runners on second and third with two outs, but a groundout ended the inning.
In the sixth, Bellarmine loaded the bases with Bricker's third hit and a pair of walks. Two consecutive strikeouts, however, pulled North Florida out of the jam.
Claire Lehmkuhler tossed the first three innings for Bellarmine, while
Carson Goatley pitched three shutout innings out of the bullpen. Halle Arends earned her first win of the year with five innings out of the pen.
Bellarmine returns to Knights Field for its final homestand this week. BU will next host Northern Kentucky at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday
