Byerly homers as baseball falls at No. 8 Tennessee

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — No. 8 Tennessee scored multiple runs in six straight innings in capturing a 19-1 win Tuesday over the Bellarmine University baseball team at Lindsey Nelson Stadium.

Bellarmine (11-30) plated its lone run against Tennessee (27-14) in the eighth on senior second baseman Dylan Byerly's second home run of the season, a solo shot to left.

Senior left fielder Tommy Dilz broke up Tennessee's no-hit bid with a one-out single in the seventh. Senior center fielder Will Aubel followed Byerly's blast with a single to account for the Knights' third and final hit.

Tennessee scored two runs apiece in the second through the fourth innings and then plated four runs apiece in the fifth through the seventh. The Vols amassed 19 hits, including six homers.

Sophomore left-hander Crew Egan and sophomore right-hander Casey Sorg both tossed 1.0 scoreless inning of relief.

Bellarmine will host Central Arkansas in a three-game ASUN series starting at 2 p.m. (ET) Friday.
