LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Central Arkansas homered four times and Jesse Barker tossed a complete game in a 10-2 win over the Bellarmine University baseball team Friday in an ASUN series opener at Knights Field.
Senior shortstop
Brett Pfaadt belted a two-run homer — his second of the season — following a single and stolen base by senior left fielder
Dylan Byerly in the third inning for Bellarmine (11-31, 6-13 ASUN), but the Knights didn't do any more damage to Barker and Central Arkansas (17-24, 8-11).
Currently one of the top candidates for ASUN Pitcher of the Year, Barker improved to 6-2 after allowing two earned runs on nine hits with no walks and 11 strikeouts in 9.0 innings pitched.
Central Arkansas scored two runs in four separate innings. Pfaadt's homer cut the deficit to 3-2 after three, but the Bears plated two runs in the fourth and sixth to gain a comfortable advantage. Reid Bowman registered two of the team's four homers.
Freshman designated hitter
Luke Scales paced Bellarmine with two hits.
The teams will play the second of the three-game series at 2 p.m. (ET) Saturday.
