LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Bellarmine played its final home game of the season on Sunday afternoon, and the Knights fell by a final score of 7-1 to Kennesaw State.
With the win, the Owls swept the series, improving to 10-11 in ASUN play.
KSU used two big innings to separate from Bellarmine, starting with the first frame. A pair of walks, single, and BU error resulted in two runs for the away team. The Knights answered with a pair of singles in the bottom of the first, but both runners were left stranded.
The biggest inning of the series for Kennesaw State was the fourth as the Owls racked up five runs. Stella Henry drove in two with a triple and came in to score on an error. Taylor Cates later homered to give KSU a 7-0 advantage.
Bellarmine tallied four hits on the afternoon, with their lone run coming from Audrey Magnus in the fourth inning. Magnus blasted the first home run of her career to put put Bellarmine on the board.
Greenwell, Emily O'Dee, and Megan Konermann had the other hits for Bellarmine.
Claire Lehmkuhler pitched for BU, allowing just three earned runs. Carson Goatley and Elli Jensen teamed up for 3.1 shutout innings from the bullpen.
The Knights conclude their season next weekend with a three-game series at Eastern Kentucky.
