ATLANTA — The ASUN on Wednesday announced the conference schedule for the 2023-24 women's basketball season.
Under longtime Coach
Chancellor Dugan, Bellarmine is set for a 16-game ASUN slate divided evenly between home and away games. The conference will be split into two six-team divisions (East and West); the Knights will play their five West Division counterparts twice apiece and square off once against each East Division squad.
As far as ASUN schedule construction, two five-game divisional subsets will bookend the six "crossover" (non-divisional) contests.
Bellarmine will open ASUN action — and begin West Division play — Jan. 4 at Austin Peay (18-12, 12-6 ASUN last season) and remain on the road for a Jan. 6 outing at Lipscomb (20-12, 13-5). The Knights will follow with their longest conference homestand of the season, a three-game cluster at Freedom Hall featuring Eastern Kentucky (18-14, 11-7) on Jan. 13, North Alabama (15-15, 10-8) on Jan. 18 and Central Arkansas (8-21, 3-15) on Jan. 20.
That takes care of the first round of West Division games. Bellarmine then enters "crossover" play with Jan. 25 and 27 contests at North Florida (8-20, 5-13) and Jacksonville (12-17, 6-12), respectively.
The Knights will welcome reigning ASUN Tournament and regular-season champion FGCU (33-4, 17-1) on Jan. 31, head to Stetson (13-20, 6-12) for a Feb. 3 contest and then swing back to Freedom Hall for outings against Kennesaw State (15-16, 10-8) on Feb. 8 and Queens (8-21, 3-15) on Feb. 10.
From there, Bellarmine shifts back into West Division play for a second round of contests to conclude the regular season. The Knights will play Feb. 14 at Central Arkansas, Feb. 16 at North Alabama and Feb. 24 at Eastern Kentucky, marking their longest conference road stretch of the season.
However, Bellarmine wraps things up in Freedom Hall with a Feb. 29 contest against Lipscomb and a March 2 outing against Austin Peay in the regular-season finale.
