ATLANTA — On Thursday, the ASUN announced the conference slate for the 2023-24 men's basketball season.
As Coach
Scott Davenport leads the Bellarmine Knights in his 19th season at the helm, his team will face a 16-game ASUN schedule with eight home and eight away contests in 2023-24. The conference will be split into two six-team divisions (East and West); the Knights will play their five West Division counterparts twice apiece and square off once against each East Division squad.
The ASUN schedule construction features two five-game divisional subsets that will bookend six "crossover" (non-divisional) contests.
The West division includes Bellarmine along with Austin Peay, Central Arkansas, Eastern Kentucky, Lipscomb and North Alabama The East Division is comprised of FGCU, Jacksonville, Kennesaw State, North Florida, Queens and Stetson.
Bellarmine will open ASUN action — and begin West Division play — on Jan. 4 when Austin Peay visits Freedom Hall ahead of the Bisons of Lipscomb visiting on Jan. 6. The Knights then hit the road for their next three (at North Alabama, Jan. 11; at Central Arkansas, Jan 13; and at EKU, Jan.20).
Non-divisional play also opens at home for Bellarmine with North Florida and Jacksonville visiting on Jan. 25 and 27. The Knights take on Kennesaw State and Queens on the road on Feb. 1 and 3 before splitting home and away games with the remaining Florida schools. Stetson visits Bellarmine on Feb. 7 with Bellarmine heading to FGCU on Feb. 10.
The final five games of the regular season will see Bellarmine return to West Division play in reverse order of the January slate. The Knights will host EKU, Central Arkansas and North Alabama on Feb. 17, 22, and 24 before closing the regular season with road games at Lipscomb (Feb. 29) and Austin Peay (March 1).
The 2024 ASUN Championship will have a 10-team format that features the top five teams from each division. All games take place at campus sites with the top seeds hosting each successive round of the event. The first round begins on Monday, March 4 with the championship final taking place on Sunday, March 10.
