Box Score LOUISVILLE, Ky. — The Bellarmine University men's soccer team fell 3-0 to crosstown foe Louisville on Monday night at Dr. Mark & Cindy Lynn Stadium.
Louisville (2-0) scored twice inside the first 25 minutes against the Knights (0-1-1). The goals came from the Cardinals' two most heralded players, Gage Guerra and Sander Roed.
Guerra, a transfer from Army who was the 2022 Patriot League Offensive Player of the Year and is on the 2023 MAC Hermann Trophy Watch List, got Louisville on the board in the 15th minute when he converted a header off a cross from Konstantinos Georgallides.
Roed, a 2022 first-team All-ACC selection, pushed Louisville's advantage to 2-0 in the 23rd minute. He found himself open in the center of the box and capitalized off a pass from Bryce LeBel.
Bellarmine had a pair of shots in the first six minutes of the second half. The latter was a header by freshman forward
Colin Elder off a cross from senior defender
Austin Yowell that slid just by the right post.
Louisville added a third goal in the 77th minute. Ethan Subachan found the net off an assist from Quinton Elliot.
Louisville had a 17-5 advantage in shots, including 8-1 on frame. Knights senior goalkeeper
Matthew Brozovich registered five saves.
Bellarmine will play at 1 p.m. (ET) Friday at Purdue Fort Wayne.
