Harrison scores 23 as Knights open season with 88-56 win over IU Southeast

LOUISVILLE, Ky. — The Bellarmine University women's basketball team made a triumphant return to Knights Hall.

Senior guard Hayley Harrison poured in 23 points, senior guard Hope Sivori supplied 16 and three other Knights were one point shy of double figures in an 88-56 win Monday night over IU Southeast in the season opener.

Playing its first official game in Knights Hall after a four-year stay in Freedom Hall, Bellarmine (1-0) led 22-10 after the first quarter and 45-15 at halftime. The Knights outscored the Grenadiers 23-5 in the second period and shot 51.6 percent before the break.

Harrison scored 13 of her game-high 23 points in the first half and also distributed a game-best five assists. Sivori nailed four of her six 3-point attempts. In her Bellarmine debut, senior forward Skylar Treadwell nearly posted a double-double with a game-high 15 rebounds and nine points, while junior guard Miyah Brown also came up just shy with nine points and nine rebounds.

Bellarmine had five players grab multiple offensive rebounds and the Knights finished with 19, led by five from freshman center Hana Abdel Aal in her collegiate debut. BU racked up 22 second-chance points and had a 59-34 rebounding advantage overall.

Bellarmine also had a tremendous showing at the free-throw line. The Knights went 27-for-30 from the charity stripe, with Harrison going 8-of-8 and Treadwell 7-for-8.

Bellarmine will host Midway at 6:30 p.m. (ET) Wednesday.
