KNOXVILLE, Tenn. —
Casey Sorg homered twice and
Will Aubel added a three-run shot as the Bellarmine University baseball team fell 20-5 to second-ranked Tennessee on Tuesday at Lindsey Nelson Stadium.
Tennessee (31-6) walloped six home runs and followed a seven-run second inning with a combined 11 runs from the sixth through the eighth. Bellarmine (6-30) may have only collected five hits, but the Knights made the most of them.
In the third inning, after junior second baseman
Webster Walls reached on an infield single and sophomore outfielder
Joey Milto was hit by a pitch, Aubel tattooed a three-run homer to left, the senior center fielder's second long ball of the season and second in as many games.
Sorg made it back-to-back blasts when he immediately followed with a no-doubter to left. Sorg led off the eighth with his second homer of the contest, a shot to left center that marked his 10th round-tripper of the season.
Senior right-hander
Nolan Pender and freshman right-hander
Sam Matherly tossed 1.0 scoreless inning each, and freshman right-hander
Chase Carver retired two of the three batters he faced.
Bellarmine will play an ASUN series Friday-Sunday at Central Arkansas, with a 7 p.m. (ET) start in the opener.
