LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Bellarmine softball played its first game in the city of Louisville on Wednesday, falling 10-0 in five innings to the University of Louisville at Ulmer Stadium.
With the loss, Bellarmine moves to 1-5 on the year while the win improves Louisville's record to 11-5.
In the game's opening frame,
Harlie Bickett got the benefit of a hard spinning looper to the second baseman that spun far enough away to allow her to reach first safely.
Jacklyn Zuege followed with a walk. Bickett was able to take third in the next at-bat thanks to an errant throw by the catcher while Zuege stole second on a later pitch. The Knights would then follow with three straight outs and end the frame without a run.
Louisville would go on to score runs in each of the first four innings, tallying two in the first, four in the second and two in the third and fourth innings to take a 10-0 lead.
The fifth inning went down without much action as Louisville took the five-inning win.
Up next, Bellarmine will head to Madeira Beach, Fl. for a five-game weekend at the Make it Happen Tournament February 28 to March 2.
