LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The Bellarmine University women's tennis team played its final home match of the season at the Eddie Weber Tennis Complex, falling to Austin Peay State University 4-3.
The Knights (3-18, 1-7 ASUN) were in the match from start to finish.
Ekaterina Tikhonko and
Yeva Kramarova started the doubles session with a 6-4 win on court one, followed by a 6-3 win by
Vendula Kryslova and
Reese Parker on court two to secure the point and put the Knights ahead 1-0.
In singles, Austin Peay evened the match and took a lead quickly, winning No. 1 and No. 2 singles.
Kryslova got Bellarmine back on the right track with a win on court three, defeating her opponent 4-6, 6-2, 7-6 (7-4), finishing the day 2-0.
With the final three singles matches on the court, Bellarmine and Austin Peay split the first two, with the Governors winning on court four and
Lillie Willis winning 3-6, 6-2, 6-3 on court five.
Shu Gross took a one set lead in the final match of the day and continued to battle but came up short, falling in three sets as Austin Peay secured the 4-3 match win.
Up next, Bellarmine will play its final ASUN match of the season, traveling to Conway, AR on Friday, April 4 to take on Central Arkansas.
