CONWAY, Ark. — A commanding start by Charlie Christensen coupled with a five-run fourth inning spurred Central Arkansas to an Atlantic Sun Conference series-clinching 7-1 win over the Bellarmine University baseball team Saturday at Bear Stadium.
Christensen hurled a complete game for Central Arkansas (17-24, 10-10 ASUN), which captured the first two contests in the series. The right-hander allowed one run on nine hits with no walks and six strikeouts in 9.0 innings pitched against Bellarmine (10-33, 6-14).
Central Arkansas scored one run each in the second and third before leading comfortably after a five-run fourth. The Bears wouldn't score again but that was more than enough with Christensen excelling on the mound.
Bellarmine's lone run came in the fifth inning when junior
Garrett Rusch singled, stole second and scored on a double by freshman
Mason Acton. Junior
Joey Milto collected three hits and freshman
Landon Akers added two for the Knights.
Senior right-hander
Mike Sokol had another strong long relief outing for the Knights, surrendering a single run over 4.2 innings pitched.
The series finale is set for 2 p.m. ET (1 CT) Sunday.
