LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Former Bellarmine wrestler
Devan Hendricks has joined the Knights' wrestling staff as the director of operations, head coach
Ned Shuck announced Tuesday.
Hendricks, who finished his career at Bellarmine last spring, is the program's all-time wins leader with 99.
"Few people represent Bellarmine Wrestling the way the way Devan does. He's been with us through every challenge, setting the tone with his work ethic, loyalty, and leadership," Shuck said. "I'm thrilled to have him join our staff so our athletes can continue to grow under his example. This move reflects our commitment to building a staff that will make Bellarmine Wrestling stronger than ever"
As a redshirt senior last season, Hendricks cemented himself in the history books of Bellarmine athletics. He became the first member of the wrestling team to win an individual conference championship after taking first-place in the 184-pound weight class at the SoCon Championships last year. With his win, Hendricks became the first Bellarmine student-athlete in the Division I era to qualify to compete in a Division I National Championship.
"I am beyond excited that Coach Shuck has asked me to be a part of his staff for this upcoming season. This program has given so much to me in the past six years, and now it's my turn to give back and help these young men grow on and off the mat," Hendricks said. "I am very grateful for this opportunity to be around the sport that I have loved my entire life."
A native of Jamestown, Ohio, Hendricks spent six years (2019-2025) toting the scarlet and silver.
In addition to his time as a wrestler, he played sprint football for two seasons where he was earned First-Team (2022) and Second-Team (2023) MSFL All-Conference honors. As a wrestler, Hendricks was selected to the SoCon All-Conference team last season.
Hendricks finished his career fifth all-time in win percentage (.683) and sixth all-time in falls (18).
