NASHVILLE, Tenn. — The Bellarmine University women's soccer team suffered its first loss of the season, falling 2-0 to Lipscomb in Atlantic Sun Conference play Sunday at Lipscomb Soccer Complex.
Bellarmine (7-1-2, 1-1 ASUN) saw its Division I-era program-record nine-game unbeaten streak snapped. The Knights also dropped their first road match of the season after entering 5-0 away from Louisville.
Bellarmine concluded a season-long four-game road swing against Lipscomb (6-3-1, 2-0), the reigning ASUN Tournament champion. The Bisons scored one goal in each half, with Hailey Johnson accounting for the first in the 20th minute and Skylar Cole the second in the 51st minute.
Bellarmine matched Lipscomb's 13 shots, but the Bisons had an 8-3 advantage on frame. Sophomore forward
McKenzie Carle was particularly close to cutting the deficit in half in the second stanza, but her shot deflected off the pipes.
Bellarmine will host North Alabama at 7 p.m. (ET) Thursday.
