Men's soccer drops road outing at UNC Asheville

ASHEVILLE, NC — The Bellarmine University men's soccer team scored early in Saturday afternoon's match with UNC Asheville at Greenwood Soccer Field, but the Bulldogs followed with three unanswered goals in a 3-1 win over the Knights.

Bellarmine (1-2-2) had an encouraging start, drawing a foul in the box just over six minutes into the contest with UNC Asheville (3-1). Sophomore forward Johan Nissen-Lie capitalized by sinking the penalty kick for his second goal of the season.

Bellarmine limited UNC Asheville to six shots, but the Bulldogs scored on half of them. Dylan Culbertson knotted the contest at 1 in the 44th minute. Arnor Hardarson then scored two second-half goals, putting UNCA ahead in the 68th minute and finding the net with 45 seconds remaining after the Bulldogs blocked a Knights shot off a free kick.

Bellarmine finished with a 9-6 advantage in shots, although they were at four apiece on frame.

The Knights will host Northern Kentucky at 7 p.m. (ET) Tuesday.
