LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Bellarmine wrestling returns home to Knights Hall for the first time since December, hosting Sacred Heart University and Presbyterian College for a Tri-Meet on Sunday, January 18.
Action on the mat will begin at 10 am E.T. on Sunday morning as Sacred Heart and Presbyterian will face off in a neutral site match. Following the conclusion of the opener, the Knights will step in and take on Sacred Heart at 12 pm E.T., marking the final tune up for Bellarmine before beginning its Southern Conference schedule at 2 pm E.T. with a bout against Presbyterian.
Both of Bellarmine's matches will be broadcast live on ESPN+ with live stats available for all three matches on FloWrestling.
The Knights (2-4) closed out the tournament portion of their schedule last week, competing at the David H. Lehman Open, hosted by Franklin & Marshall. There, redshirt sophomore
AJ Rallo took top honors for BU, earning a third-place finish in the 141-pound weight class with a 4-1 day. Rallo took down then No. 30 ranked Carter Nogle from Air Force en route to his podium finish. His only loss in the event came to Penn's No. 7 CJ Composto.
For Sacred Heart, the two matches against Bellarmine and Presbyterian will add to its SoCon resume. Despite being a member of the EIWA, the Pioneers have already wrestled and beat Davidson 20-18 (11/15) and lost to VMI 22-13 (12/20), bringing their SoCon opponents to four on the season. Overall, Sacred Heart is 2-4 this year with its other win coming last weekend in blowout fashion over University of Bridgeport (41-3).
Bellarmine and Sacred Heart will meet for the first in program history on Sunday.
Presbyterian has opened its schedule 0-7 and already has the most SoCon duals under its belt with three, losing to Campbell (21-20), Davidson (21-9) and Appalachian State (46-4). The Blue Hose will compete in a tri-meet with Brown and Lock Haven before traveling to Louisville.
The Knights hold a 5-0 advantage in the all-time series against Presbyterian. In last year's meeting, Bellarmine topped the Blue Hose 49-0.
Since joining the SoCon for the 2020-21 season, Bellarmine is 1-4 in its SoCon opener. The lone win came over Presbyterian (40-9) in the 2023-24 season.
