LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The Bellarmine University wrestling team hits the road for the first time in Southern Conference play, traveling for a dual against VMI on Friday, January 23.
Scheduled to begin at 6 pm E.T., the Knights and Keydets will battle at a neutral site, wrestling at Benedictine College Preparatory in Richmond, VA.

With the dual being contested at a neutral site, there will be no stream of the action. Live results can be followed on FloWrestling.

Bellarmine (4-4, 1-0) began its SoCon schedule last weekend, capping off a tri-meet with a home bout against Presbyterian. In the first half of the day, the Knights handedly defeated Sacred Heart 40-3 before dominating in the conference opener with a 50-3 win over the Blue Hose.

In the busy day in Knights Hall, BU turned in six total pins, two against Sacred Heart and four against Presbyterian. Junior Jeb Prechtel notched two of the six falls with grad student Daulton Mayer, redshirt senior Zac Cowan, redshirt junior Trayce Eckman and redshirt sophomore Andrew Liber all collecting one apiece.

VMI (4-4, 0-1) opened the conference schedule last week as well, falling to Appalachian State 40-3 in Buies Creek, NC. The Knights and Keydets wrestling two common opponents in their non-conference schedules in Edinboro and Sacred Heart. Bellarmine won both of its matchups (20-14 vs Edinboro; 40-3 vs Sacred Heart) while VMI dropped its dual against Edinboro 44-0 before narrowly beating Sacred Heart 22-13.

The Knights have faced off against VMI five times since rising to Division I and joining the Southern Conference. VMI holds a 3-2 advantage in the all-time series, but Bellarmine has won two of the last three meetings, including a 31-9 victory last season.
