BLOOMINGTON, In. – The Bellarmine University women's tennis dropped a tough road match on Friday afternoon, falling 4-0 to Indiana University.
Bellarmine (6-9) dropped its seventh straight match in the midst of a competitive stretch of the schedule.
Indiana (7-0) continued its undefeated run to start the year with its seventh consecutive win.
The Hoosiers claimed the doubles point with victories on courts one and two. On court three, juniors
Marika Caruk and
Nikola Kollaritsch held their own in a tight battle, working to a 5-5 tie before the match was abandoned with the point already clinched.
Indiana carried the momentum into singles play, getting the necessary wins on courts two, three and four to secure the match with a 4-0 win. Kollaritsch once again showed her stuff, earning a 7-6 (7-3) set one victory in her match on court six. She held a 1-0 advantage in the second set bur was unable to finish due to the clinch by Indiana. Senior
Vendula Kryslova and junior
Lillie Willis both pushed their opponents to the edge in the first set of their matches, going toe-to-toe before each falling 7-5. Both Kryslova and Willis' match went unfinished.
Up next, Bellarmine will stay in Indiana as the Knights travel to South Bend for a doubleheader at Notre Dame on Sunday, February 15.
