Karasinski sets new career high as men's basketball falls to Austin Peay

CLARKSVILLE, Tn. – Senior Jack Karasinski nets a career-high 30 points in the Bellarmine University men's basketball team's 90-70 loss to Austin Peay on Saturday night in Atlantic Sun Conference play at F&M Bank Arena.

Karasinski went 10-of-18 from the field, hitting four threes in six attempts as he poured in a new career best and game-high 30 points. In addition, he grabbed four rebounds while dishing out two assists and recording one steal in the game. Tonight's effort was Karasinski's third in the last four games with 23+ points and his seventh straight game in double figures.

The Knights (11-15, 6-8 ASUN) held tough in the early going, staying within five for most of the game's opening five minutes.

With thirteen minutes left in the first half, Austin Peay extended its lead to 10 for the first time and never looked back, pushing to as high as a 20-point differential by the end of the half.
Just before the midway point in the second half, Bellarmine found a rhythm and netted three straight baskets, a dunk from redshirt senior Brian Waddell and a three each from Karasinski and freshman Jacob Wassler, for an 8-0 run.

Austin Peay's Collin Parker was leading the scorer for the Governors, turning in 22-points, 18 of which came in the first half, seven rebounds, four assists and a steal. Freshman Zyree Collins recorded the lone double-double in the game, recording 16 points and 14 assists, the latter of which is an Austin Peay freshman record.

As a team, Bellarmine shot 45% from both the field and beyond the three-point line while the Governors made 58% of their shots, 52% from deep. Austin Peay outrebounded the Knights 31-21 and outscored BU 24-16 in the paint.

Up next, Bellarmine will return home to host Lipscomb and Eastern Kentucky on February 18 and 21, respectively, in Knights Hall.
